POSITION OVERVIEW
The Registered Dietitian & Nutrition Educator [the Dietitian] plays a pivotal role in advancing BC Dairy’s vision of being “Better together for Canadian Dairy” and its mission of inspiring and innovating for a healthy Canadian dairy industry. This role leads the development and delivery of impactful nutrition and food literacy programs, collaborating with educators, health professionals, and community partners. The Dietitian will promote dairy’s role in healthy nutrition and food security while driving market growth across Western Canada. Aligned with BC Dairy’s guiding behaviours—Think Bigger, Win-Win, Fact-Based, Care, and Accountability—this position supports strategic initiatives to foster greater public understanding and appreciation of dairy products and their contribution to health and well-being.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Nutrition Education Program Delivery & Innovation
- Lead the delivery of nutrition education workshops for educators through virtual and in-person models, expanding access and increasing engagement to support BC Dairy's broader vision of fostering community health and food literacy.
- Monitor access to educational resources by periodically reviewing and updating workshops in the Learning Management System (LMS), to foster innovation and increase the reach of BC Dairy’s nutrition programs.
- Drive program growth by developing, evaluating, and refining food and agriculture literacy initiatives, ensuring alignment with industry trends and opportunities for market reach.
2. Impact Measurement & Reporting
- Provide strategic, fact-based insights into BC Dairy’s impact by tracking and analyzing program reach, demonstrating how nutrition education supports BC Dairy’s broader strategic objectives.
3. Online Presence & Content Management
- Enhance the online presence of the nutrition education department by drafting website content improving user engagement and resource accessibility.
- Collaborate with the Market Growth and Development Team to maximize the effectiveness of online marketing efforts to elevate the visibility of education and health programs, reinforcing dairy’s role in nutrition and food security.
4. Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
- Ensure strategic communication success by developing and executing clear, consistent messaging across internal and external partnerships, strengthening BC Dairy’s influence in food and agriculture education.
- Serve as a thought leader and advocate for nutrition, food security, and dairy products by representing BC Dairy in media, community outreach, and professional engagements, enhancing the organization's credibility and public trust.
5. Industry Knowledge & Leadership
- Keep BC Dairy at the forefront of industry leadership by thinking bigger, maintaining up-to-date knowledge on dairy nutrition and industry developments, ensuring educational content is fact-based and cutting-edge.
- Engage in leadership opportunities for nutrition education in provincial health and agriculture sectors including public policy consultations and program development in line with BC Dairy’s mission
6. Stakeholder relationships and Collaboration
- Strengthen collaborative efforts by cultivating relationships with educational institutions, health professionals, and community organizations to advance food literacy and support the market growth of dairy products.
- Enhance outreach impact by applying a fact-based knowledge of dairy production, sustainability, and community participation, ensuring accurate and informed responses during community engagement and outreach activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education
- Applicant must be a registered dietitian in good standing with the College of Dietitians of BC.
- Additional training in education, UX design, communications, marketing or agriculture is considered an asset.
Required Experience
- Practical experience in nutrition education is essential.
- Sound understanding of nutrition and health recommendations across the lifespan, importantly, with early years and primary grade children.
- Knowledge and prior experience with the Division of Responsibility are vital to the success of this role.
- Communication skills that foster an engaging experience with external groups are essential, including comfort with public speaking.
- Post-graduate training or previous experience in program development and evaluation would be an asset.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong communication and organizational skills to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders, reflecting BC Dairy's mission of inspiring, innovating, and collaborating for a healthy Canadian dairy industry.
- Ability to plan and manage nutrition education programs in alignment with BC Dairy’s vision of being "Better together for Canadian Dairy," while fostering innovation and ensuring accountability in program delivery.
- Understanding of community needs to deliver impactful programs that promote dairy’s role in nutrition, in line with the guiding behaviours of Care and Win-Win outcomes.
- Proficiency in key platforms and programs, including Microsoft Office Suite, WordPress, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platforms, ensuring fact-based communication and program management.
- Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position operates under BC Dairy's hybrid work policy, with most tasks performed remotely. However, a minimum of 5 days per month in the BC Dairy office is required, subject to change at the organization's discretion. Some irregular hours of work, including weekends, mornings, and evenings, are required.
Travel throughout BC is expected; access to a vehicle is essential.

Compensation
$65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
